A Splashing New Look!

Our weekends are usually filled with lazy days at home, playing with the boys, attending ball games - but not this weekend!
On Saturday morning, I "thought" of a great weekend project - putting up a tile back splash under our kitchen cabinets. I somehow convinced Will to go along with this plan. We packed our Family of 5 into the family jeep and headed to Home Depot.
After shopping for about an hour, we purchased our supplies and headed home. We put the two little boys to nap and started to work.

Day 1:
1st step - sand the painted wall to "rough it up" a bit.

2nd step - measure, cut, and lay out tiles to fit the area (measuring around outlets & window)

3rd step - apply the glue to the wall with a trowel.

4th step - put up the sheets of tile

Day 2:
1st step - mix the grout

2nd step - apply the grout
cleaning as you go (this was one of my jobs)

3rd step - final wipes with clean sponge

The finished look!

Tomorrow: apply grout sealer!
Here's to family projects and saving loads of money by doing it yourself!
